Document Backlog Slashed as Gorvins Take WinScribe Digital Dictation Firm-wide

London, 19 August 2005 – Gorvins Solicitors, one of the largest law firms in South Manchester, with offices in Stockport and Milton Keynes, has slashed its document backlog from 750 to 150 jobs, following the successful pilot of WinScribe digital dictation in it’s twenty lawyer strong family department. The firm has announced that it is now rolling out the solution, provided by the UK’s exclusive WinScribe Platinum Partner, SRC, to the rest of the firm over the next few months.

Before piloting the WinScribe digital dictation system in the matrimonial department, Gorvins was experiencing a significant backlog of work.
“Client service has always been our number one priority and the limitations that our analogue dictation system put on us made improving client service challenging at best,” said Lorraine Lockie, Gorvins’ managing partner.

“We looked at several digital dictation systems, and found that the WinScribe system was most suited to our needs.”

“The ability to work effectively away from the office has also helped reduce our document turnaround times. Instead of waiting to fill a tape and then pass it to their secretary for completion, our lawyers now dictate via Olympus DS-4000 handheld recorders or WinScribe’s telephone dictation facility, which means dictations can be available for transcription the moment they’re completed,” commented Lockie.

The solution SRC provided to Gorvins comprised the WinScribe digital dictation system, Philips SpeechMikes and Olympus DS-4000 handheld recorders. In the firm’s Milton Keynes office, the WinScribe system runs in a Citrix true thin-client environment. As part of the roll-out solution, SRC will continue to provide the end-to-end project management, training and support services delivered during the pilot phase.

“SRC’s support services were nothing short of excellent and have significantly raised my expectations of the support we should expect from our other IT suppliers. The SRC team ensured that any issues with our IT environment that could have affected the deployment were quickly resolved without disruption,” continued Lockie.

SRC WinScribe digital dictation is used by more North-West law firms than any other system, including Cobbetts, Pannone & Partners, Hill Dickinson, Donns, Ricksons and Berrymans Lace Mawer. WinScribe is a member of the Legal Software Suppliers Association.
