London hospital first to Test the new Philips Modular Scanner
London, January 17, 2005 - St Barts and the London NHS Trust one of the UK's top teaching hospitals were more than happy to test the Philips Barcode Scanner in their Radiology Department.
"When we were approached by Philips to help them test their latest barcode module which converts their digital hand held recorders to barcode scanners, St Barts Hospital was the obvious choice" said Ken Nolan, Sales Manager, WinScribe Europe. "With helpful input from Consultant Radiologists, Philips were able to fine tune the scanner to make it simple to use".
The WinScribe system was originally installed into a very busy Radiology department based at St Barts Hospital, London. The hospital cares for over 500,000 people from the City of London, East London and beyond. The system was then quickly increased to cover the Radiology department at the London Hospital in Whitechapel, London, as well as their other site at the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green.
Following a call from the Directorate of IM&T of the trust, WinScribe was supplied to the Infectious Diseases Department, a first for WinScribe in this area of medicine.
Following fast on their heels, Histopathology were supplied with special hands free dictate stations using waterproof foot pedals and radio microphones together with Philips hand held recorders for remote dictation.
WinScribe's success story did not end there in December 2004 a new order was received from Cardiology and the Muscular Department, more than doubling the number of users on the WinScribe system at the hospitals.
"Despite the size of the trust and complicated medical applications WinScribe has proved simple and straightforward to install with the trust's IT Department now maintaining the system", concluded Ken Nolan.
