Brodies Goes Digital With Winscribe

London, June 30, 2007 - Commercial law firm Brodies has replaced its analogue-based dictation system at its Edinburgh headquarters, following its acquisition of Bishops law firm in Glasgow.

Brodies decided to deploy WinScribe in Edinburgh after witnessing the success of the dictation system already in place at Bishops. Regardless of location, fee earners will now be able to make use of transcription resources across both offices, to improve productivity and client service.

The new WinScribe solution will be installed by WinScribe’s partner, Welgo, and is extended to more than 250 fee earners across Edinburgh and Glasgow. Whether office-based or a remote user, fee earners will be able to upload dictations onto the WinScribe system and have them queued ready for transcription by the first available transcriber at either city site.

Brian Gordon, director at Welgo explains: “Brodies were about to evaluate various other systems, but WinScribe was the best option for them, especially as it was already successfully installed in their Glasgow office. Our job was to replicate this system and install a server at the Edinburgh site, so the dictation process could be streamlined.

Andrew Powell, IT director of Brodies, comments: “Our previous analogue dictation set-up had many limitations, the main one being the physical tape itself, which simply doesn’t lend itself to multiple office working.

We needed a system that would allow us to utilise resources across the two offices, and WinScribe does just that, we have streamlined the dictation and transcription process. Ultimately it will improve the performance and flexibility of transcribers enabling them to easily prioritise actions and view workflow, which will make for better forecasting and decision making”.
