Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has awarded Winscribe the tender to supply Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset with an Epro full Clinical Correspondence software system.
This strengthens Winscribe’s relationship with the Trust, which has been using Winscribe’s digital dictation solution for the past five years.
Jenny Pickhaver, project lead at the Trust commented, “We are delighted to have made this award to Winscribe under OJEU. Throughout the tender process it was clear that Winscribe really understood our requirements and the process efficiencies and standardisation we wish to make around the correspondence process.”
The deal includes an integration of the solution with the hospital’s Cerner Patient Administration (PAS) and will involve the import of historical letters into the solution as well as supply of the advanced Epro document store.
Jenny commented further, “Our project team particularly liked that the solution was built by clinicians for clinicians and is designed to be simple to use, enabling clinical correspondence to flow smoothly through the system.” She continued, “Tackling the whole clinical correspondence process including electronic approval forms an important part of our larger EPR programme.”
Colin Howman, Business Development Director at Winscribe commented, “We are delighted to have been selected by Taunton after such a rigorous process. It is the first time an NHS Trust has gone out to market for a next-generation Clinic Correspondence platform, and this specification now sets the standard.”
Colin added, “Epro’s proven technology for the whole end-to-end correspondence process in the NHS, including GP messaging, can reduce clinic letter distribution from months or weeks to hours.”
The hospital, which will have over 650 users of the system, is looking to lower their correspondence costs and deliver process improvement. The system will be rolled out during 2013.
